North Coast Railroad Authority Hires Permanent Executive Director

Ukiah, CA– August 4. 2003 – By unanimous consent, the Board of Directors for the North Coast Railroad Authority voted Friday to hire Mitch Stogner as the new Executive Director of the agency. Stogner replaces previous Executive Director, Douglas Christy, who resigned in May.

Said NCRA Chair John Woolley of Stogner’s placement, “Not only does Mitch bring a vast amount of public transportation knowledge to the NCRA, but experience working with local, state, and federal agencies as well. He’s got all the key ingredients we were looking for – both myself and the other directors couldn’t be more pleased.”

Continued Woolley, “I would also like to publicly thank Rick Kennedy for filling in on a temporary basis as Interim Executive Director; it was no easy task to come in and manage the day to day on such short notice…Rick did a great job for us and everyone at the NCRA is so grateful”

Since 1991, Stogner has been with Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) working in the Government and Community Relations Office as Department Manager. Part of his duties included representing BART before local agencies, State Legislature, and Congress.  Before his tenure at BART, Stogner worked for Congressman Doug Bosco in Washington DC for eight years as his Chief Assistant, and for five years as then Assemblyman Bosco’s Chief of Staff.

Said Stogner of his new position, “My wife and I are extremely excited to return to the North Coast where I was raised. I have always followed the issues facing the area, even while I was in Washington DC. The railroad spells economic vitality for the North Coast and I’m very excited to be a part of the effort to restore service.”

Stogner’s first day with the NCRA will be August 18th, 2003.
